Died August 3, 2005 Serving During Operation Iraqi Freedom


Augie was born in Columbus, OH and graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ in 2000. He attended The Ohio State University and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, Columbus, Ohio; killed Aug. 3 when his amphibious assault vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device during combat operations south of Hadithah, Iraq.

Zach Lawrence was severely injured in a car crash in March 2017 in the Republic of Georgia. While recovering in the Dodd Hall Rehabilitation Center at Ohio State University, the 38-year-old Dublin, Ohio, resident was given one button to push for “yes” and another to push for “no.”

“Do you like Michigan?” he was asked.

Lawrence immediately pushed the “no” button. And then — just to make sure everyone had heard him the first time — he pushed it again.

Sadly, Zach succumbed to his injuries in July 2018 and passed away peacefully.




Randy (Harry) Ream

Age 58 of Columbia, South Carolina died Sunday Jan. 8, 2017 after a brief battle with brain cancer. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and The Ohio State University. He was employed by Dynamix where he was a highly respected member of their sales team. Randy enjoyed golfing, tennis, and fishing. He always had a sparkle in his eye and a smile on his face.




Michael J. Phipps

Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy


Phippy was born on July 7, 1967, in Carbondale, Illinois, and grew up in Steubenville, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University and earned his medical degree from Ohio State in 1993. He was an alumnus of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.

Phippy, a Lieutenant Commander and surgeon at the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland, was killed on October 16, 2004, when he was struck by a southbound car on I-35 just south of I-35 Rest Stop.



Charles W. Hostenske

Retired Captain, United States Air Force


Chuck was born February 4, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA to William and Mary Hostenske. He held a Bachelors of Science from The Ohio State University, a Masters from The University of Utah, was a retired Captain with the United States Air Force, and while serving in Vietnam he received the Distinguished Flying Cross w/2OLC, Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other decorations.

Chuck, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. He had been battling MS for many years.

Michael J. Pottebaum, 51 of Oakley, passed away Saturday April 1, 2017. Son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Pottebaum. Beloved brother of Jennifer and Karen Pottebaum.

Mike will forever be remembered as the Phi Kap who got drunk and took a shit on the oven door. RIP Brother.
